I'm finding myself unable to be what I once was. |
|
Kucinich is an inspiration, but I feel something very close to hate in my heart for these people who have demonized the left for so long, and I find it helpful. I use it to energize myself... if not for that deep seated, severe anger, I would be left too depressed to fight back anymore.
It makes me sad, and confused.

1. redqueen, if you find Kucinich an inspiration, then it speaks to the |
|
good in you to be keened to a genuine public servant. That is, it suggests that what you honor in Kucinich is hardwired in you as well. The vibe isn't a political accident, but a personal gauge of what motivates you as a citizen and Kucinich as a Congressman.
If the Left were not hitting nerves, it wouldn't provoke the reaction it does. The NE Ohio GOP tried to upend Kucinich by urging GOP voters to vote for Barabar Anne Ferris yesterday and it didn't work. Let Jim Dobson do his far right shitbabbling. Those nuts have peaked. They'll still be out there demonizing Democrats but their hold on the GOP has begun to unravel. If the GOP is going to remain a viable political entity, it is going to have to throw Dobson and his ilk off the train.
Yesterday, Kucinich's supporters held true and he whupped Ferris by I think 76% to 24%. Without the crossover shenangigans it would probably have been higher.
I wish I could persuade you not to be confused by your own excellent instincts for good citizenship.

I probably shouldn't say it but I'm all choked up... I'm just so tired... not only of fighting them, but fighting other liberals for a little more tolerance and understanding among our own as well.
Thank you for sharing the good news about yesterday! I'll try to be more forgiving of myself in that regard... thank you again for the comments and the support.

4. Dennis just refuses to deal with that crowd on their own terms |

Those of his constituents who were peeved that he spent so much time on the presidential campaign in 2004 seem to have forgiven and forgotten. Hoping that will free him up to be a national voice for peace and justice right from where he is.
