Something about the joys of play and the arts, the central beauty of life is the arts.
I want to put something together for the school levy. We're about to lose almost all our electives and extra-curriculars.
What are we even thinking of denying our children the enrichment that only the arts and physical activities can provide?
There's got to be bunches of poems out there that have already expressed this. I live in a fishing community, something that talks about the music of the sea or something, that would be terrific.
Thank You!!

Taking physical activity and arts out of schools is not just taking away "enrichment". Physical activity and arts actually help the brain learn the stuff like the three R's. If you take away sports and recess then you will have fat AND stupid kids. Take away the arts and the only kids who will succeed will be the ones who can memorize dry facts. But they won't know how to think creatively so they'll eventually struggle too.

I think one of the teachers has written a letter with that info in it. I was just thinking more along the lines of reminding people that life just flat wouldn't be worth living with music, art, literature, drama; and recreation. I thought maybe the best way to do that might be with a poem.
