That was a very nice interview. Kerry was perfect on the McCain/Iran issue. The health care comments were interesting. Because the question was on an important, but not central issue, it is hard to expand it to any view of what Kerry's own position is.

it. In the winter, I was actually watching Morning Joe, but I stopped doing so for the reasons shown in that video. The "sarcasm", especially shown by Mika is ridiculous. I do think the deficit is a problem, and I am worried about it. But I am also worried about health insurance, both for my family, as well as the country. But the conservative line is to only care about the deficit. I do not think that a morning show should be so one sided when it comes to the hosts. I wish Mika could play the "liberal", or at least a contrarian to Joe. Instead, Joe's philosophy reigns supreme, and you end up with a show where only one POV (center right) is represented. What really made me turn off Joe for good was his open advocacy for torture and his smearing of Ali Soufan, the brave FBI agent who came out against torture (and was the guy through interrogations who got a large number of the 9/11 hijackers ID'd). After I stopped watching, I also saw that they engaged in union bashing, saying there were no successful companies where there was a union, not getting the unbelievable irony that NBC is owned by G.E. which is .... unionized.
So it was nice to see John Kerry there -- I will give Joe credit, that he seems to have a policy of always being respectful to guests, at least ones with the stature of Senator Kerry. It was also nice to hear talk about the health care debate outside of the Right and the whiny liberals who scream all day, as exemplified by the diaries on dkos these days. I may actually agree with them on the public option, but I find their tactics and tone a total turn off that fills me with despair.

I did happen to turn it on in the last day or two though, just to see if things had changed and to see what Joe S. view of the Iranian situation was.

I was really sad to have missed this (I see in the idiot comments on the Herald article that he was on Imus yesterday morning, too -- that's his REAL secret to conquering jetlag -- he never sleeps other than on planes!) and he did a great job here. Dead on re Iran and then I was happy to hear him talk about reinsurance during the health care discussion -- I still think that sounds like a great, farthinking part of a potential solution and I'm glad he's still championing it.

I totally would have missed this! As has been said before, despite the mock abuse, Imus is the on air personality JK is most relaxed with; he really talks to him as a friend and so often we get information from these interviews we wouldn't get on more high-profile political news programs. And though he jokes that he hasn't been saying anything because he's bored and not paying attention, I notice that Imus is one of the few interviewers who (mostly!) lets JK actually TALK and get out more than one sentence. Some good thoughts here on the Middle East.
