Senate speeches in Kennedy's honor - Kerry's is at 10:00 am just after Reid and McConnell |
|
Great eulogy - as always, but clearly very very difficult and very emotional. (Maybe because the Senate was where Kennedy always was.) http://www.c-spanarchives.org/congress/?q=node/77539&hors=s#

1. Thank you for posting this, it was a wonderful remembrance. |
|
I had missed it earlier. And, it is obvious that Senator Kerry has many good memories of Senator Kennedy, like this one he told today of the January 2005 inauguration day.

2. Caught this on C-Span 2 this morning. |

It was beautiful. I was so moved by the Senator's words and how choked up he got at various points in the speech. You can really tell how much Teddy meant to him...and by all accounts, vice versa. :)

4. They really became close at the end |
|
Some people from this group (not me - so they can explain more)went to Kerry's swearing in and to a reception in the SFRC room. Both Kerry and Kennedy spoke and both spoke of their relationship with the other. It was clear that the Kerrys and Kennedys had become very close friends.
In addition, since at least 2003, Kennedy really had Kerry's back and loyally defended him when most of the party treated him pretty badly after November 2004. Other than Max Cleland I can't think of anyone more consistently there. So, he lost a strong ally as well as a very dear friend.

5. I would bet even if she saw it, she wouldn't get it and would criticize it |

I get what you say in it being too early to watch this. I would imagine many in MA are finding it hard to really accept that Kennedy is not there - even though obviously they know it intellectually.

|
Thanks for posting and thanks to Beachmom for the horrible RW site's youtube clip -- just wish they hadn't cut it off before the end! Thanks to anyone who has link to the whole thing! It's truly a beautiful, heartfelt tribute from one friend to another.
