I am embarrassed to admit that I did not catch this myself, but saw it on an obscure Daily Kos diaries that quickly sank - I found it by looking for Kerry tagged diaries.
This poll measured favorability, not job approval and there is clearly a major problem in their study. The way to see it is to ignore Kerry's numbers.
There are MANY nationwide polls of Obama's favorability. The question is how can Obama be 57 in the recent PEW national poll taken at the same time and 54 in MA. (
http://pollingreport.com/obama_fav.htm - I ignored the first because unlike the MA poll it has a "neutral" option) This is illogical - it means that he is doing worse in MA than the nation as a whole.
Where is he getting the real high numbers to pull up MA .... and all the red states?
Then look at the fact that Brown is listed as getting 41% of the Democrats. (not to mention - at least in Cape Cod, it appears that Brown mania is declining - at least if the weird Plymouth Daily News and the Cape Cod Times is being even half way accurate. (This paper actually seems like an anachronism in a day of bland local papers - leading me to suddenly see that it has more of the qualities that a locally focused, opinionated, political blog would have.)
