Photo of JK at the signing of the New START treaty |

There were many articles that the treaty was signed, but this is the first one I have seen that mentioned that JK was there or had a picture. The article itself is on Lugar's fight with the tea partiers. (As a former Hoosier, I really think the tea party rudeness - if it comes against someone as well know, respected and liked as Lugar - will backfire.) http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/2011/02/08/133598581/sen-richard-lugar-to-tea-party-foes-of-nuclear-arms-treaty-get-real

1. Yeah, that stinks for Lugar. I am not sure he will make it |

through another election given the lunacy of the GOP base. Thanks for the pic, which is important to show he was there. However, it's not a very good picture of him. Oh well, it's all we've got.

2. I haven't spoken to my family, much of which is still in Indiana |

I don't know whether primaries are open or not - as I only voted there once - for McGovern in the Democratic primary as a senior in Bloomington. The comments there really were more supportive than I figured they would be. That may not be a good barometer and I do not know there usual tenor, but it is a good sign. (Comments on Boston radio stations re: Kerry are far worse.)
This is one case where I actually prefer Lugar winning - rather than holding out that an unknown Democrat would beat an unknown tea partier. He is needed as a sane Republican elderly statesman.
