http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/letters/articles/2011/05/04/senator_engaged_in_dialogue_with_eyes_wide_open/ THE GLOBE’S article on my work to engage the Syrian regime (“Kerry’s softer stance on Syria scrutinized,’’ Page A1, April 28) downplays the reality that all other options had failed and that I engaged the Syrians with eyes wide open.

1. Thanks. As far as I can see, neither of these two letters (Blum or Kerry) have made it in the print |

really should have known better than giving Abrahms' view that much prominence. They also ignored their own article on Kerry's diplomacy as seen by Wikileaks. Kerry, in his conversations with the leader of Quatar, pushed back his demand that the US back Syria's demands on the Golan Heights saying that he wanted to see in real actions, not words, that they were moving away from Hezzbollah and Iran.
To be fair, the article did quote many who supported what Kerry tried to accomplish, but placing Abrahs first and using his POV for the headline were journalistic choices that were not warranted by the less partisan comments. (Not to mention he is a confessed felon.)
