Condi Rice actually praises Kerry's foreign policy knowledge in her book |
|
I stopped at B&N to get something and while waiting in line, decided to use the index in her book to see references to Kerry. There were only 3 references, one was two pages on election night, when she was told it looked bad for Bush, then Rove said the exit polls were "skewed" and they would win, when Kerry did not concede, she was concerned that the nation would have to deal with another recount.
But the more interesting comments were when she spoke of liking interacting with the SFRC committee, complimenting Lugar, Kerry, Hagel and Biden - in that order - as serious, foreign policy experts. She also spoke of her confirmation history, but she ignored most of the drama. She then spoke of how, when she was tired from all the testifying, a tired Lugar and Voinivich stayed while Kerry asked question after question. She said that she realized it was more about him - and that his questions covered all that was spoken of in the election. She then said that because she had great respect for his foreign policy knowledge she hid her annoyance (me to Condi - you failed completely) This was her sanitized version - and it ignores completely that he voted against her and his reason was that she had not been completely truthful.
Still, this was better than I expected and filled the time waiting in a line.

1. It surprises me that she recognizes greatness. |

But, when I read her other comments, it brings back all my questions and concerns about the 2004 election.

...there WAS a recount attempted in 2004, but it couldn't be completed because of the machines??? Now I'll have to go re-read all those books again... :7
