Sorry, except for a menu that did it for my French.:)
I have a very, very obscure question to ask. I've always been interested in the French Revolution (& the Russian Revolution, too). At least two of the books I've read have listed in the Bibliography & Recommended Reading section a series of letters between a woman & her daughter. Apparently, one lived in Paris & one lived in the country. Both were very well educated, smart, astute & articulate. They wrote to each other every day. I just remember one author saying that anyone who wanted to get an inside look at the events leading up the the revolution should read the letters. I've searched all over. Unfortunately, I can't remember which book or books mentioned these writings. Note: This is not a novel like Dangerous Liaisons, these are actual letters written at the time.
Anyone have any idea? I was hoping it was something that is well known in France.

Somehow I've screwed up. Madame de Sevigne wrote to her daughter, but she's about 100 years before the revolution.
edited to add that the book looks very interesting & I ordered it from Amazon. I could only find the Penguin copy of selected letters, but it still looks great. Thank you so much for the suggestion.

Madame de Sevigne right now. I can't thank you enough for telling me about her.
After I finish her biography I'm going on to read her letters.
