The 1544th Transportation Company out of Paris, IL, arrived back home from Iraq today. Tony and I have 7 friends in this unit, and Tony's nephew was one of its 5 members who died in Iraq, out of a complement of 124. Although we mourn Carlito's death and the deaths of his 4 comrades, we humbly give thanks to God for the safe return of our friends and neighbors.
Thanks be to God.

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, let thy protection be upon all those who are in the service of our country; guard them from all harm and danger of body and soul; sustain and comfort those as home, especially in their hours of loneliness, anxiety, and sorrow; prepare the dying for death and the living for your service; give success to our arms on land and sea and in the air; and grant unto us and all nations a speedy, just and lasting peace. Amen.

The ones who died will always be in your hearts. I am sorry that they had to go through what they went through. They're brave, honorable people.
