lets start off with something light...what is your confirmation name?
I don't have one because I was baptized in a Byzantine church and they don't do the confirmation thing...

| 3. Catherine, for St. Catherine of Siena |
|
I've been to Siena several times but never yet gone to the church where St. Catherine's head is kept in a reliquary.
(Travel note: If you're ever in Italy, try to spend a day in Siena. Sitting out on the Campo in the center of town, just enjoying the weather and people-watching, is a wonderful experience, and I've done it in freezing weather more than once. Italians spend much more time outdoors, walking around, socializing, window-shopping, than we do, and it's great. I'd never been to Italy at the time of my confirmation so it's interesting that I chose that name.)
Congrats on being the first poster in our new group, Rev. Smitty! :bounce:

And I have been wondering ever since I took it (1990) if it's "legit."
I've always assumed so because the priest knew of it.

| 9. Nancy is a form of the name Anna or Anne |
|
"Gracious" in Hebrew--and that was Mary's mother, according to tradition. Yes, derivatives of names are fine and I'm sure there have been a few "unknown saints" called Nancy, as well!

This hasn't kept me up nights by any means, but I have been wondering for awhile since most people have the more "traditional" names.
