| 3. When I was in 7th and 8th grade |
|
we were in charge of giving out candy and treats to all the younger kids for St. Nicholas day. They would make little stockings and hang them outside of their classrooms. Then a few of us would stay after school and make sure the kids got their treats when the arrived at school the next day. They were always so happy and I got a kick out of seeing them all so happy

| 4. When we were children, we would leave our shoes |

on the stove on St. Nicholas day. In the morning they would be filled with candy and nuts. That's one of my happiest childhood memories.

| 5. We did that for our children too. |

Raisin and nuts being the traditional treats for Advent, rather than sweets.
And my son is named Nicholas, so it is his name-day as well.
