My youngest turned up today with his girl.

It was nice to meet her. She's really pretty and social. They stayed all day and were invited to share barbeque with the newest boarders. There were a ton of people here and she surfed all of them just fine. Nick seems really comfortable with her, being himself and not some other idealized person which was nice to see. They hiked and rode and ate and we all talked our heads off. I made them some fried chicken and sides to take home. It's been a long time since we had a family Sunday but apparently we all remember how it's done.

Kid is flopped on the floor and snoring, exhausted from all the attention she got today. Even the rescue kittens got some love. I miss having my kids around. :)

i wish someone could discover the exact correct distance which children should maintain, yaknow? i trip over the ones that are still here, and i know, even as i am grinding my teeth, that they are going to go and i am going to miss them terribly.
