We have a wonderful real live pharmacist in town who knows us and knows his drugs. He really pays attention to what he hands out. We can't afford to use him though because under my husband's health plan the meds would cost up to ten times as much. We're forced to use the insurance company's captive mail order pharmacy. So my daughteropens her latest bottle of generic Risperdal yesterday, takes a tablet, and throws up half an hour later. We didn't make any connection until the same thing happened this morning. She goes to the doctor this afternoon with her father, they show the pills to the doctor and he identifies them as a heavy duty drug for Parkinson's disease! Thank God she did vomit them up!

and that you caught that something was up with her pills before anything could've happened.
That is entirely dangerous.. Did you call the mail order place? I'd raise a stink... someone needs to be held accountable for that. That is unexcusable.

There is no generic for Risperdal out yet. None of the clients in my program who take Risperdal (and there are quite a few) have received a generic form, and since they are all on Medical Assistance they are required to get generics of all drugs if one is available. That pharmacy really screwed up and should face penalties.
