I saw the orthopedic surgeon today...
Guess What?!
I don't need the spine/neck surgery. I am So relieved.
I will be going for swallowing tests tho.and there is a very slight chance I may need the surgery in the future. and I gotta to a rhematologist and physical therapist. I still got to get my tonsils out(damn)..But Yay! no bone spur cutting, and getting tonsils out hurts but it is a lot less risky than sawing spine in a tight space packed with veins arteries and nerves. And BTW My Med Assist will cover the surgery should I ever need it. And lastly it is just Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis. A kind of Arthritis. It's *not* that funky hereditary bone disease or the worst case scenario ,bone cancer.I'm gonna be ok. I'll be Creaky, sore itchy and occasionally I might have problems swallowing again especially if I get a sore throat again..(another reason the tonsils have to go)
Damn I am so relieved. Thanks to everyone here ..Hugs and purrs to you ALL!

Very happy for you that you need no immediate surgery, and that your condition, although uncomfortable at times, isn't worst case scenario!

3. Best news we've had all day! |
|
Thanks for sharing and keep us posted.
By the way - the stuff physical therapists make you do may seem very simple and stupid, but IMO it really works. I went in with back pain so bad I could hardly walk, and I was back in good shape in a month - but only because I followed instructions and kept up the exercises.

4. Physical therapists ROCK! |
|
I had to relearn how to walk after being hit by a car going 45 Mph.There was no car around me. The only good part of that whole accident was the sensation of flying through the air. That I have to say was neat, like flying.Landing, well that HURT.. And you would not believe how something you learned as a baby (walking)you take for granted because it has become automatic is so damn difficult to do once you forgot how to do it! My physical therapist who helped me after that accident was the coolest ever. She put up with my insane blue streaks of cussing in frustration and my sick ass humor about my purple, blue, green, yellow zombie legs,my fear of moving my joints because of the dread of pain, and she let me yowl, whimper and cry my eyes out on her shoulder when I thought I'd be in leg braces forever because my knee refused to bend. She had massage techniques to DIE for.
She told me the best off color jokes and physical therapy gross out stories ever, she really made me feel fortunate, about my situation at least it wasn't THAT bad..and to this day I use her material as a springboard and embellish it to win gross out/horror story contests with my friends when we have cookouts late into the night....hey,you gonna eat that..
