how is everyone feeling this week ? |
|
it has been a month since the stolen election and holiday seasons are a big downer for so many people,I always want to give presents to everyone, feed the starving and fix the world this time of year. This year it seems more out of reach since this mandate of greed and stupid power is off to a flying start. Hiding from the news papers,t.v. and the radio frees up so many hours, how is everyone passing the time ?

So a lot of my time is taken up by that. I spend my free time taking care of errands and surfing the internet. I need to get out and get some Christmas shopping done. Hopefully I'll be able to take care of that next week.
I'm feeling better than ever despite BushCo being able to stay in office. I've found that since the election I've lost almost all interest in politics. When on DU I stick with the groups, non-political forums, and the lounge.
I heard a contemporary classical musician one time say that change in society would not occur through politics. It will occur through cultural shifts. He is doing a lot of work with musicians around the world and bringing what he learns from them into his music. It's one small way that he can help change society. If we all do something to affect the culture we are living in then all those small things will add up to something big. A more enlightened culture will spawn more enlightened politicians and a more enlightened voter base to get them into office.

2. I have a math final on Monday |
|
And I don't know if I"m ready for it. I bought a "fun" book to read during break, it's a history of the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon. Plus I may try to learn how to crochet. I say "try" because I don't know whether i'm good at that sort of thing or not. But looking forward to not dealing with algebra for the next month!

I am renting as many comedy DVDs as I can get my hands on.
I feel like I'll take a downward spiral if I don't get some laughter soon. When you watch three Chris Rock DVD's and barely giggle once, though, you're in trouble.

4. Very low energy and ambition, but doing okay |
|
My depression usually takes the form of a very low overall energy level, and I'm definately feeling it now. The trick to getting through is to set very achievable goals for the day (i.e., something pretty easy), and get through that way.
Mostly, that means going to work, coming home, eating, practicing guitar for a 1/2 hour, and going to bed. And if I'm up to it, maybe working on a couple websites I run.
I try to do something "social" once every week or so, just to get out of the house and break the routine. Lately that has also involved political organizing, too, so I'm killing two birds with one stone.
I'm curious to see how everyone else is doing, too.

5. I don't know what I'm doing |
|
Not to angst up this thread or whore for attention, but oftentimes I burst into tears for inadequate reasons. A few nights ago I was viewing this movie adapted from a Tagore play in which this little girl dreams of a giant singing bird and a friendly elephant guiding her to a dear friend...the sight of her surrounded by her little playmates, as they joined hands around a gentle giant. I couldn't bear to watch. "My heart! My baby!" Her friend completes his prison sentence for murder and re-enters society a pathetic hobbling old man, and his first thought is to buy a pair of red bangles for this girl whom he still thinks is the baby he entertained and upon whom he lavished sweets and exotic fruits. When he presents her bangles she DOES NOT RECOGNIZE HIM...the expression on his face! Oh, it all seems such a horrible waste!
Sometimes I'm driving and I start bawling which is sort of dangerous.
I feel like I'm dying and it is at once unsettling and comforting.
Suicidal ideation, too. All I want is to feel HUMAN and that is probably asking too much
Sorry if this post was a little disjointed.

|
but in L.A. everyone is lost driving....if i hold the phone (not on) and blabb away no one will pick up on it maybe. I just don't see why everbody isn't completely pissed off about what is going on.The t.v. and newspaper piss me off so much i can't understand why anyone could find entertainment and or comfort in them. Perservere everyone ! and be good to yourselves.

8. Time to look for support/help imo. |
|
It is not wise to continue with these dreadful feelings on your own, bloodyjack, it is OK to recognize that one needs help sometimes in sorting through the muck.
Counsellor, therapist, doctor, group support work, spiritual advisor - whatever you need! - but seek that contact.

9. I think I will see a head doctor over the winter break |
|
I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder late in high school but did not feel any treatment was absolutely necessary
Life is something to endure, not enjoy, I've always thought
But, see, here's the rub: I cannot really do either
Anyway, you're right, it is impossible to go on living like this

6. I had a bad day pain-wise on Saturday, which put me out of kilter. |
|
I've noticed that a body in motion tends to stay in motion and a body at rest tends to stay at rest. I had to stay in bed all day. The next day I had a hard time getting started. Now I'm functional, but still deeply saddened by the state of affairs in the country and in my family.
Being alone is hard.

11. Staying in bed. Reading a lot. |
|
Reading is an escape for me...from myself, from the world in general. If that makes sense.
I hope the rest of you are doing ok.
