Here because I've had a rough couple of days and my Lounge friends |
|
are tired of me complaining (asking for attention? they think). I'm starting to worry that the Prozac isn't working any more. Instead of being merely depressed I am feeling anxious as hell. I can't focus, which scares the hell out of me because it's completely uncharacteristic.
After two attempts this summer I no longer look at suicide as an option: a good sign! but this feeling of helplessness and a lack of control over all aspects of my life, it's horrible. I am back to obsessing about somebody I broke it off with a year ago and though I rarely cry, when I do it's like I've become hysterical.
Thanks for listening. Part of it must just be the time of year. Everywhere else it begins to get warm but here we will have snow and cold for many weeks to come. I usually get depressed in March.

2. I think I'd better check my milk jug. I drink an awful lot of milk & |

assumed it was fortified. Maybe not.

4. The recommendations for Vitamin D are approaching 1000 IUD |

That's about 2 1/2 quarts of fortified milk a day.
Some researchers are now attributing SAD to a drop in Vitamin D levels as exposure to sunlight falls. That makes sense to me, because I get depressed in Spring and in August. Why August? Because I am so fair I tend to avoid the harsh summer sun .

Okay, you've persuaded me to take a look at the literature. Thank you.

It sounds stupid, but my car has died and I can't fix it so I can't get myself around. This, in turn, pisses me off so much that I refuse to do anything or go anywhere until either I win the lottery or a relative dies and leaves me a chunka cash.
Oh, I'll get there eventually. Inertia. :hi:

11. Seconded; my dose had to go up over time - 2x per 6 weeks on average. |
|
Don't try that on your own, that's how prozac worked on me. The doc eventually decided my brain was adapting too quickly and had me try something else.
I'm currently on nothing except a metabolism enhancer and exercising more and it has helped, but the primary stressor I need to put into perspective or I will have a stroke or a complete breakdown. I have good plans for the future and I'm going to make them work. (Photojournalism, I feel it's the right thing to move to...)

The brain's biochemistry can change over time, due to actions and counteractions of medications... and/or an imbalance generated natively within the brain or due to repetitive exposure to external stimuli. So it may not be entirely uncharacteristic that you feel anxious. It could be uncharacteristic, but it could be something else as well.

how do you sleep? i feel like a broken record about that sometimes. but sleep problems are so common, yet so rarely addressed by docs, even the pysch ones. i told one that i wonder why the cia seems to take sleep so much more seriouly than the ama. ask your doc for some ambien or something for a while. good sleep is the best drug out there.

16. right now I'm sleeping too much although at odd hours. |
|
When I first became depressed I just stopped sleeping and ate nearly nothing which led to rapid weight loss, dizziness, etc. I was put on Lexapro and Remeron - the latter made me very tired and gave me back a bit of appetite. After I regained the weight I was given something else that I OD'd on and so now I have something called Neurontin which is not really a sleep aid, but it relaxes me when I need it. Rarely. My depression now is less a horrifying nightmare from which I never end, and more a constant pain in my heart, you know?
