Does anyon have any experience with Depakote ER?... |
|
A generic is now on the market, however, my boyfriend(13 yrs, not a flash in the pan) has been on it for about 3 years now and it has been a tremendous live saver. I know that generics are the same active ingredient, but I am a little nervous about the switch. Not sure if a change is worth saving the $20 Anyone have any input on this?

1. can't speak to this particular med, but i have never had a bad experience |
|
with a generic medication. i know how tricky psyche drugs can be, tho. do you think that he trusts you enough to monitor this with him? i assume that if the diff is $20, you have rx insurance. might be good to know in case he ever loses this. i can see your point, tho. if it ain't broke....

2. In theory they should be the same drug |

so he should be able to make the switch with little difficulty. However, that's not always the case.
In my own situation, I tend to err on the side of caution, especially if I've reached stability. Sure, the extra $20 could come in handy, but if I didn't absolutely need to switch, I would stick with the tried and true.
