it seems that sometimes the only threads in the fantasy lit group are hp related.

contact the admins and ask them
you need a minimum # of donating posters to say that they'll join the new group
I think it's 10 but don't hold me to that

No point, imo.
If you want to see fewer Potter threads, and more threads about other books, start them. If you start them, some will join in.
I do empathize; there are days when I'd like to ask if GD Politikers could just start groups for Hillary, Kerry, and Clark; then all the other great dems out there could get some time on the front page. Somehow, I don't see that happening. ;)

Sorry, but no one stops you from posting other topics.

This is a slow moving forum. If you look carefully, you'll see that there are not more HP threads than others except during times that a book or movie is released.
With the slow movement, threads aren't quickly archived and replaced by new stuff. I kind of like it that way; conversations can be leisurely and I can dive in and out of them over time. As a matter of fact, the longest-living thread I've ever started is on the front page here, and has been for a couple of years now. It's not an HP thread, and still gets some occasional action.
Case in point: this is my second response to this small thread, the first being more than 2 years ago.
Start threads about books or authors that you like; if you aren't getting responses, give us more information. If you, for example, think an author is not getting enough notice, tell me enough to make me want to read the book; as a confirmed bibliophile, I probably won't be able to resist, lol.
I've read several authors I never would have found by checking into posts in this forum. Some of them were not my "thing," but I appreciated the chance to broaden my repertoire, anyway.
Start a thread about someone I've read, and I'll join you. Start one about someone I haven't, and include enough information to intrigue me, and I'll give it a try!

11. With threads from last July still on the front page? |
|
I doubt that the need is urgent.

12. IIRC, this forum was created principally in response to people on the Fiction Books Forum |
|
who were tired of being swamped by Harry Potter threads. So a Fantasy Literature forum was started, mainly to get HP out of the other forum, but all fantasy literature was included.
That's going back a couple of years, but I think that's how it was.
