Very enjoyable series overall. I have looked forward to this next book for what feels like a very long time.
Another favorite: Jim Butcher's Dresden File series. They start a bit slow - don't give up! - but by the second half of the first book, they start falling into a rhythm, characterization and story that just keep expanding and getting more exciting and fascinating. Highly recommended!
