thoughtful questions that didn't seem too obvious. It also has exams you can take, one for each
year at Hogwarts - I haven't tried those yet.

2. That's just a touch bizarre

I just took both of those tests (out of inability to do anything else until the caffeine kicks in) and that's exactly what my results were: House Ravenclaw and a Phoenix Patronus.

I wonder how many Patroni they have in their test, as it says "26 % from 26568 test takers had this profile!". A quarter of the people have a Phoenix?

3. I also had a Phoenix patronus.

And I'd have to say it does seem rather odd that over a quarter of respondents had that patronus. Unless there were only four patronus' (patroni?) for the whole quiz. In the real world, I'm pretty sure my patronus would be a dog, and owl, or a turtle. (I'd love to watch a turtle knock out dementors!)

At least I wasn't a Ravenclaw--I was sorted into Hufflepuff. So we know that test can come up with other options. :)

4. Sorry about the Patronus test, it's rubbish.

I hit the score button without even answering the questions, and it came up with - Phoenix. I've
sent an email to the person who set it up and gave him a piece of my mind.

10. Even with the "rubbish" Patronus test, I got "wolf" (house Ravenclaw). So

everyone isn't a phoenix, even w/this test!

I tried to get into the first one, but it looks as if you have to register before you can do the
test, so I moved to the second one, which was good - I came out Ravenclaw again.

On the Patronus test, mine came out as a Cat (quite appropriate; I love my cat!).

What were your results? Are we in the same house?

7. So far...

...I have tended to come out a Hufflepuff on the house tests, with occasionally a Ravenclaw result. My patronus was a monkey, which leaves me feeling a little ambivalent. But the third-ranked one was a unicorn, and the second-ranked a was horse, both of which made me feel a little better.

9. I've been trying to find some information on the symbolism

of the various Patroni (being pedantic here), but they're eluding me.

Monkeys are actually supposed to be clever and resourceful creatures, and of course the Unicorn
symbolises virtue. The horse I believe is held to be the most loyal of all animals.

Mine in order were Cat, Phoenix, Horse. I don't know what cats are supposed to symbolise - they're
certainly great survivors, while the Phoenix represents regeneration and spiritual growth.

Anybody know more?

I liked the idea of the unicorn patronus. I have a picture of myself on a marble unicorn in the city of Salzburg, Austria. I was much closer to the Hogwarts student ages then. :cry:

13. I must check it out.

I did read an interview with Jo Rowling where she was being asked heaps
of questions about Snape, and she was saying "What is it with Snape?"
Then she asked the audience "Is it Snape, or Alan Rickman?" to general
laughter.

I'm asking myself the same question, and I really don't know the answer.

14. I have mused on this question myself

and I keep coming back to the answer that she PICKED Rickman to play Snape.

She could have picked any number of nasty, unattractive British actors, but no, she picked Rickman. And after having seen Sense and Sensibility yesterday I think she knew what she was doing.

She's been bagging on Snape for years, and yes, he's nasty, but he's got a tortured soul, and Rickman does that REALLY, REALLY well.

Chicks dig tortured souls. :D

15. And the voice.

I finally went to see the film adaptation of The Order of the Phoenix the other day, and while there's a decided dearth of Snape scenes, Alan Rickman makes the most of them, especially with that voice. I chalk a lot of that up to his theatrical training, of course, but still...

I also dug out my When Love Speaks CD to listen to Rickman reading a Shakespearean sonnet -- a task he was not given in Sense and Sensibility, though he does get his poetry reading moment and does get to cast looks of romantic longing.

16. His voice has been described as velvet -

"If velvet had a voice, it would sound like Alan Rickman" - can't
remember where I saw that.

I think it's more like taffeta - silk with an edge. Perfect for Snape.
