Poll question: Potter fans: A wicked poll on Bellatrix Lestrange (SPOILERS). |
|
"NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!"
Thus did Molly Weasley announce her intention to deliver a richly deserved ass-kicking to Bellatrix Lestrange, Voldemort's top lieutenant and one remorsely evil gal, in the final chapter of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. We all know how that ended (and if you don't, stop reading now and pick up the novel).
Now I'm sure Bellatrix had it coming, and of course Molly is an ideal avenging angel, given that both her brothers and one of her sons were killed by Death Eaters, and two sons were disfigured and her husband injured in attacks. However, I suspect there are alternative ways to take out Bellatrix Lestrange. I've listed a few ideas below.
What do you think? Vote for your choice and explain!
What should have happened to Bellatrix Lestrange?

2. I do rather like the idea of Neville and the Sword of Gryffindor, |
|
in revenge for his parents, but I'm mindful that the kids didn't kill, and Neville had already taken care of Nagini.
So I'll settle for all the students taking Bellatrix out - revenge for Dobby. And if they're helped by the house-elves, great.

3. Taken out by Herry to avenge Sirius' death. |
|
But I also like the idea of her being Umbridge's cell bitch. Or would Umbridge be her bitch? Hard to know who would be dominant in that relationship, it's only fun to theorize because no matter who was on top, they'd both be (continue to be) completely miserable.
Actually, for those two, I'd be in favor of bringing the dementors back as their cell guards.

4. Yeah, the two female characters we love to hate. |
|
Each is highly unpleasant in her own way.

5. Oh, I think Bellatrix would always be dominant. |
|
Only Voldemort could control her.
The difference between the two witches is that Umbridge is really a bureaucrat gone berserk - spiteful and vindictive, but always small in the scope of her nastiness, and easy to predict and ultimately get the better of. Bella on the other hand had the imagination to be truly creatively evil, and much more difficult to counteract, because you could never guess what paths her mind would follow to cause lasting harm.
I hope that for one brief moment before death, she knew what had been done to her, and suffered.

6. Umbridge is truly banal in her evil. |
|
I suspect most of us have encountered the muggle equivalent of Umbridge -- someone controlling, rigid, and willing to hurt people to uphold her view of the world. She's scary, but Bellatrix Lestrange is just plain terrifying.
