I drop into the Fantasy Lit group, and 15 of the 20 latest threads are about Potter.
Is that the only title/series out there?

I even tried steering some conversation towards what people will read after Potter, but no replies yet...
I'm trying to decide what to read next - I've never read much of the Shannara books, I did read Elfstones of Shannara in HS, but didn't like it at the time, too depressing. I might go back and read those.

2. Honestly, I can only complain to a point |

I'm a fan of the Fantasy Fiction, but I'm not especially well read. However, I like reading about works in the genre, and I get a little burned out hearing too much about the same title or series for too long.
Much props to Rowling, of course, but I'd just like to see some other discussions going on!

3. I just re-read (or rather re-listened to) Elfstones and Wizard of Shannara |

Like you, I'd read it in HS and enjoyed it. I decided to buy the audiobook versions so I could 'reread' the stories a few months ago. It might have been the reader, but I was surprised at how cheesy both stories seemed this time around. The other thing...WoS seemed to be the same basic story as EoS with a few of the names changed. I don't know why I never noticed that before.
I guess my tastes have changed somewhat since HS. :)

I've read the books and enjoyed them, but Potter is definitely not the only fantasy lit out there.
I always recommend Charles De Lint (Urban Fantasy), George R. R. Martin. (Epic Fantasy), Tad Williams (Epic Fantasy), Robin Hobb...
There's lots of great stuff out there besides HP. :D If you list authors/books you've read and liked, I'm sure you could get some additional suggestions!
