It's book 3 of the Final Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. We finally get some of the story told from his perspective, which is nice.

Donaldson's writing has reached new heights, too. It's simply amazing, leagues beyond his earlier stuff.

Now we have a 2 1/2 year wait for the final book. There are times I wish he was more of a hack writer, so we got books more frequently, but then I appreciate his writing, so I'm willing to wait.

1. I read the first several books back in the 80s.

I recently wanted to reread them, so that I could refresh my memory before diving into all those that came after. With everything else on my reading list, it could take me 2.5 years to catch up, lol.
