| Harry Potter GOF question that's REALLY bugging me... |
|
Just finished re-read today; getting ready to start on #5. This part is really bothering me, and as I know that JKR is all about foreshadowing and hints, it HAS to mean something. I'm at a loss. US Scholastic version; Chapter 26; page 696; 3rd paragraph: "For a fleeting instant, Harry thought he saw a gleam of something like triumph in Dumbledore's eyes"
Anyone? I'm not really a fanatic, but in rereading this just jumped out at me....

on Voldemort. Dumbledore uses old/light magic which Lord Voldy doesn't consider to his detriment and hopefully demise (Book 7?). When you get to OotP, Dumbledore does something else that is quite surprising that aligns with this. :)

| 2. (possible spoiler) in book 5 |
|
just a theory...
it's explained why Harry has to stay with the Dursley's - as long as he can call it home (family blood ties) he's protected
when Voldemort used harry's blood, he picked up some of that "protection" - but Voldemort has no living relatives and no home that would trigger it so makes him less protected by the old magic
