Hello? Hello? Dear fellow loners... |
|
I'm a newbie to this group, and I *like* being alone. There are friends and relatives I cherish, but I prefer keeping even those dear ones at a distance.
At times, I enjoy getting out there for get-togethers, and can even be the life of the party. But heaven help me, once I reach my little sanctuary after those few hours - I crash. It is just too much to pretend, to put up a front. Being around others for long periods of time drains my batteries and I need to recharge them. And I can only do so by having lots of time to myself.
Books, my cat Mosche, the computer and chatting with like-minded individuals at my own pace - to me, that is a safe haven.
Here's to you, friends!

1. Welcome fellow newbie loner here too |

For me, it sucks. I feel so rejected and completely helpless. On the flip side of the coin, I don't have to worry about getting into any fights or worry about peer pressure. All I want is a few good friends to keep, that's all that matters.
It's good to know that we are not truly alone, as there are others with a similar situation.
My lonely activities are computer, music, movies, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow and a good social group I hang out with when I have the chance. And of course, DU.:)
