Recommending a documentary: Herb and Dorothy |
|
http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/herb-and-dorothy/film.htmlHerb and Dorothy were a married couple. He's a retired employee of the post office and she's a retired librarian. To put it succinctly, they collect art. An amazing story.

1. Yeah, that looks really interesting... |

...I collect and sometimes sell art by several different artists; and additionally, create and occasionally also sell my own art.
I buy mostly "pop surrealism"/"lowbrow," but I have some interesting pieces which date as far back as the early-to-mid 20th Century, including a piece from around 1946 by an artist who survived a nazi concentration camp.
I try to must buy low, ideally outside of a gallery, directly from the artist, if possible.
However, first rule after that: ya gotta love it before you buy it. Which can make it hard to part with when it's sold.
Anyway, documentary recommended.
