Has anyone ever made a painted canvas rug? |
|
I'm thinking of trying one. I know I should start small, but I want a big one. The canvas would be fairly expensive so I don't want to mess it up. How hard is it?

1. Nope, but I've wanted to do one that was directly painted on to the |
|
floor of a porch or sunroom. I was gonna try the old projector trick to get the pattern down and outlined. Then start painting and dare anyone to step on the floor until I have 75 coats of varnish on it.

2. Ever see them done using an old flannel-backed |
|
tablecloth? Instead of Jesso, they used Kilz (aka Binz), even painted the back. Glued the edges, painted the design, and then covered it with polyurethane. It was on an old carol Duval show, and according to her, it was a good, cost-effective alternative.
Would that work for you?
It will be time-consuming with a large piece, but the results are breathtaking.

I'll try to find a site with detailed plans. Thanks for the idea.
