5. I am off and on

I tend to go in spurts. I started when my son was in first grade - they weren't really popular before then. Unfortunately, the book size I was using was discontinued so I had to redo the first 20 pages. I have first through the summer after sixth grade done, then I went back to babyhood and got up to kindergarten. I still have a few years left to do until I finally get caught up .

6. i have always had an affinity to scrapbooks and stickers. when

scrapbooking started picking up, i was thrilled. your son will really appreciate it when you finish. or is this for you? i just finished a book for my mom. it is a book of her life before turning 50. i know i missed a couple milestones for her but i didn't have the pictures.

but I do design papers and layouts and embellishments for computer scrapbooking. Most of them would print out nicely.

To be honest with you, I'm amazed how huge this has gotten in the last couple of years. We're lucky that we live near a couple of scrapbook stores - so it's convenient for her to shop and/or crop when the mood strikes her.

I'm a pro at spending a small fortune on stickers, die cuts, etc and then letting them sit in the closet for months if not years. I have to be in a certain mood to do it.

That sums me up perfectly. I have boxes full of papers, markers, scissors etc. I tend to work in spurts, when I am in the mood, I do 20 pages, then I go months before I get the stuff out again.

10. I've just started.

I had to get a foundational supply of papers, pens, stickers, and other stuff socked away before I started.

I'm tying most of mine completely in with my genealogy, and heritage scrapbooking. I want my scrapbooks to be REAL LIVE historical documents. I'm not as concerned with the embellishments as I am in making them look authentic and historical. But I'm getting more experimental.

I've just started journaling, and scanning tons of my historical photos and photos that aren't necessarily of my family but that accent the theme I'm trying to create (farmers plowing, maps of locations, sod houses scanned out of history books, etc).

The last week or so while I've been recuperating, I've actually begun collecting doo-dads to scrap my internet relationship with reprehensor, since I have TONS of great bits of meorabilia just sitting in a box. I want it to be out where everyone can see it!

Ya'll post some layouts if you get brave! I'll do the same. I'm still in the collecting phase, though, and haven't finished any pages yet.

12. Well, the pages are just puring out of me!

I recently took a trip to the Midwest for more genealogy research, and the past few weeks, I've met with several distant cousins to collect and scan their photos, old letters, etc.

I'm hoping reprehensor and I can get one of these 11.9 by 16" scanners sometime soon so I can begin scanning these pages.

I've decided I'm going to try to find as many cousin from this family as possible, and host a family in Beloit, Wisconsin in 2007. I'm using the scrapbooks as advertising. Any new cousins I meet, I show them the scrapbook, and it draws them in to the genealogy part. Once they see it, they're hooked.

My great grandfather had 9 brothers and sisters, and I'm thinking about doing 1 book for each of the 10 offshoot families, then showing them at the reunion (with an attendant at the table, of course-- don't want my masterpieces walking off!)

13. Acetone!

Anybody tried this transfer method? I just bought a new book on heritage and collage scarpbooking last night, and OOOOOH! I can't WAIT to try this!

You take a picture or whatever you want to put in the book, make a mimeograph copy of it (copy machine-- something with toner, they say).

Find the paper you want the image on, then place your mimeograph copy upside down on top and take a cotton ball soaked with acetone (looks like you can also use nail polish remover). Smooth the paper out towards the ends with the soaked cotton ball, and the image will slowly transfer.

This technique is SO cool! The images look very ethereal. I have some stories about children who died very young, and I want to use this method for giving them that sort of dreamy, ghostly quality.

14. So here is a double page spread I completed other day...(dialup warning!)

My cousin in Los Angeles sent me some new genealogy information on this lady, and I fell in love with the idea of using crocheted type lace and fibers in the layout.

She was an amazing seamstress, so the family called her Aunt "Tat."

She fell off a horse and broke her hip when she was still relatively young. Her hip was set, but evidently it pained her enough not to want to walk on it. So she remained an invalid most of her life.




On another note, this Mustek A3 scanner RULES! It's an 11" something by 14" scanner that can do whole scrapbook pages!

How cool. I am a dealer of antique and vintage paper items -- just the kind of stuff that scrappers buy REPRODUCTIONS of for their projects. I love paper, but haven't gotten into doing anything with it. I devour the magazines such as Somerset Studio.

Your acetone technique sounds amazine.
