What projects are you working on now? |
|
I primed my bathroom today. Will paint it while my bf is out of town for the holidays. Easier when there's only one person/shower to worry about.

Just about everybody on my Christmas list is getting an item I painted in painting class. This afternoon I sanded and painted a bunch of letters for name plaques for two of my young nieces. I broke my 1/16th bit drilling holes to wire the letters together too, darn it. :)
Tomorrow I must work on Christmas cookies.

I have to clean up our spare bedroom/bathroom (aka craft room) ~ I leave for Phoenix the day after Christmas & my StepTeens will be coming in to see their Dad,,, that means that bedroom & bathroom will be 'in use'
but, but, but after the first of the year ~ I am working on a queen sized quilt for our bed AND I just got a book on miniature art quilts (multimedia) ~ I am excited to start on these :) not to mention Valentine's Day is coming up & I sell cards on eBay,,,

Had a raccoon in my attic this past spring. He rearranged some insulation and unbeknown to me exposed some pipes to the cold attic air. They froze and I had to dig through my bathroom wall, ceramic tile and all. Then fix plumbing which I hate...mostly because I suck at it.

The wood work is all done. I need to make the padded cushion for the top now. It will have to wait until after the holidays.

7. Our house is constantly in a state of remodel because my husband |
|
is a remodeling contractor! He just built a shop on our property so he promises me that all of the unfinished/unstarted projects will get crossed off "The List" beginning next year.
I'm on the fourth strip of a 10-strip crocheted afghan called "Ribbons and Lace." It's fun but I can't do it and hang out on DU at the same time and lately, DU has been winning! :D

9. we are talking about which will come first, painting the outside |
|
or overlaying new shingles on the roof
i think the roof will win, should start in march
in the meantime I keep feng shui-ing a room at a time
spice cupboards are next weekend, and got some seeds sprouting for my container garden that should go out in couple weeks. so this weekend i'll be prepping the dirt (if it ever quits raining around here)

glad to see there are plenty of diy'ers here! i've been working on my home since last may, one thing at a time. the previous owners only worked on landscaping (which i hate - lava rocks - ugh!), and neglected everything inside.
i've (not me personally, some jobs were contracted out) had a new garage door/opener installed, new gutters, interior doors, new range, fridge, and micro so far. my earlier plans to install new kitchen cabinets fell by the wayside due to lack of funds. however, i have bought a new tub/surround, vanity, medicine cabinet, toilet, faucets, and solid surface sink for the bathroom. someone else will be doing this after i demo the vanity. i will put in the tile floor myself as it's so small. i can't wait for my new bathroom, as i only have the one.
however, this week i have received my load of laminate and i will be installing it this weekend. i have a 5 day weekend to do living room, two bedrooms, and dining area - 700 sf. i finished prepping my bedroom, which will be the first room. thursday i will begin laying it out. i'm already sore!!
anyone else have any ambitious projects out there?

13. floor prep was every thing and the hardest part. also we had some |
|
VERY tricky angles to cut and that took a few tries. cut it bigger then trim it in ended up being how we did it
not hard, just a pain to move all the furniture.
the biggest hint is start in the MIDDLE of the room (or in our case the house) and work out in all directions. We chose the wall in the central hall as the "middle" and snapped a chalk line the whole length of the house and worked each room from the line :) the good news is that the pattern is contiguous thru the whole house and looks great
