Where to get replacement plug-in cords

I've got a dog who likes the taste of wire (fortunately only if it's not plugged in) I need to replace the power cord for a portable DVD player and for an electric razor. Anyone know where you can get such things? Is it even cost effective or would I be better off just replacing the entire electronic device? grrrr GD dog!!

Doesn't matter what it's attached to - or if it even works. You only want the cord. You have to get into the device to then hook up the replacement but that's usually straightforward enough.

4. If that doesn't work

Look up the manufacturer web site. search replacement parts , make model item ,tell it what you want and they will fed x it to you! Better yet,get there 1-800 number off their web site call them,someone will direct you to the right place! Have the item there ,make and model number/serial number!

And if you take those items with you to radio shack,they may better be able to line you up with a mulit volt universal plug power converter and inter changeable connectors. That is if those items run off twelve volt converters.But,if it's straight 110 volt plug in's, that's a hardware store item.

8. I've already rewired some stuff with regular 110s

a vacuum cleaner (twice but it was a farkin' Dyson, no way I was going to let it go to the trash) and a high velocity (spendy) fan. As I said, I'm really lucky she doesn't bite live wires but I totally can't afford this shit. I've tried the bitter apple and she still manages to chew them up. Plus I spend a small fortune keeping her supplied with rawhides and sanctioned chew toys. And she's not even a puppy dammit.

9. It may be a negative attention thing.

Trainers are not very expensive for a couple of hours on a house call really. Or even one hour. If it's the negative attention thing,that means same as a child the dog will do exactly what you do not want the dog to do,to get your attention.

Somebody at your local pet store may be able to explain that to you better. Dogs are like unruly children sometimes and thats damn it.

It may be like $100.00 to have a trainer come out to your house. Some pet stores have trainers come in several times a week ,there it may be less costly . But the trainer can instruct you on just how to break the dog of that habit. And it would cost you less than the cost of replacing a good fan or vacuum cleaner.

Try calling your local pet store ,can;t hurt right?

5. Are they both removable power cords?

More or less like this?



Or are they permanently attached internally to the device?

Some cords are very specific to the device. Others, like those for PC monitors or the PC itself, are quite generic.

I'm sort of electronic illiterate but they both have the kind of single pin plug like you would see with a set of headphones *except* the plugs are hollow at the end. I suspect that they're not generic because (again, electronically illiterate here) but the plugs have different input and output voltage and Hz. For the DVD player I emailed the manufacturer about how much a replacement would cost through them. The electric razor I don't see replacement parts on their web site and it was a pretty spendy razor.

This dog has eaten so many computer mice, keyboard wires, vacuum cleaner cords, etc. you wouldn't believe it. I try to keep stuff out of her way but short of not having any electric devices I'm at a loss for how to keep her away from all of them.

7. Yes I know what you mean

The woman here knows how to deal with that. Pet store product called bitter apple in spray bottel. Spray it on your electrical cords, dogs don't like the flavor at all. And when you catch the dog, punish the dog.Dogs have short memeroal recall so,you must catch them in the act. Bitter apple works! You need to break the dog of that habit. Pet store people can help you with that.

10. A funny story about pets eating electrical stuff .......

We had a (different) Border Collie many few years ago. She was very well behaved, but once chewed up a teevee remote control. I got a (back then, new and **very** spendy) universal remote at Circuit City. They offered the usual insurance policy on it. I said "Sure, if it covers the dog eating it."

"Hahahaha"

"I'm serious, you know. Hahahaha"

The salesman wrote "Eating by dog" on our copy, signed it, and entered it into the system.

They made good on this ....... twice.

The dog eventually lost interest.

For your cords, you will probably need to contact the manufacturers. They probably look like this. There are several sizes of these (maybe 10 or 12, maybe more). Add to that an even greater number of voltages, and the matter becomes even more complicated. These cords are used for a variety of devices.
