Foundation work is expensive!!! |
|
The joys of home ownership.
So I live in Texas where we've had several years in a row of drought. This year the foundation went south on me. Settling has caused significant sheetrock cracking...
Yesterday I got a quote....
28 8 foot deep and 12" wide piers around the perimeter....
$16,800.00
That's $600.00 per pier folks....
Oh, and I need to replace the A/C - Heat pump system. That's looking like anything between $5,500.00 and $8,000.00...
I sure hope the Union comes back with a contract soon....:-)

1. See? If you were a landlord |

you'd just have somebody go out every year or two and stuff joint compound in the crack instead of repairing the foundation. As for the heat pump, well, why not just use window air conditioners? Heat pump's too good for tenants.
$16,000 for foundation work isn't that bad. I saw people pay $50,000+ years ago when they needed the house jacked up and a sill replaced due to termites.
