stripping woodwork, yumm. |
|
been up to my eyeballs around here. one kid moved out, another moved in, one that was here had to swap rooms. plus i moved out of my studio, requiring a great deal of piling it higher and deeper. for some stupid reason we decided we might as well fix these rooms up while they were "empty". had plasterers in, and did the painting ourselves. will be doing the last dozen windows in the house next month. one bedroom had already had the woodwork replaced and restored. the other had about 8 coats of paint. i had the plasters pull it off. i have been out at the old picnic table stripping it. so much, much, much easier to do it when it is off. but, stripping most of it with a heat gun, which is mostly pretty quick. 2 days at it, and it is all done. now i am using one of those safer strippers to take off the last of it. i tried a liquid ones which was shit, but the paste on is good. brush it on and leave it. rehydrate it when you are ready, and scrub it off. then it needs a light sand. done. still have to do a couple of pieces that we didn't remove- door jamb, etc. but should be done in a couple days. ok, well there is that whole varnish thing. think i need a poll about varnish.
