| Home Warranties: a question |
|
Anyone here have any experience with Home Warranty companies? I am considering buying one, found a A+ rated company on the Better Business Bureau site. I had a warranty the first year I owned the house but it flew by so fast I never got around to getting the furnace tuned up. My furnace is 24 years old and needs replaced. I'm not aware of any specific problems with it, just that my inspection report said it's aged and time to go, and that was a couple years ago already.
My question: Would the warranty replace the entire furnace due to age, or do they wait for a specific part to break down and just replace that?
Thanks!!

| 1. I have no experience with such warranties, but common sense tells me ...... |

...... there's no way they'll spend $5,000 to $10,000 to replace a 24 year old furnace.

.... in all of their application and terms and disclaimer info, it says it doesn't matter if the equipment is "aged" - that they understand that people buy 'older' homes, and they don't require an inspection, only that it be 'working properly with no pre-conditions' in order to qualify for coverage.
