http://www.angryasianman.com/2007/04/tired-of-tarantino.htmlInteresting rant. I honestly hadn't given a lot of thought to Tarantino's frequent use of 'asian women' and/or asian women stereotypes in his films, but it's worth examining--particularly if the Angry Asian man is pissed off about it on any level (I've enjoyed reading his blog from time to time). ;)
I found the Tarantino character of Go Go, the young, female bodyguard in Kill Bill interesting. He has her play into the "stereotypical asian archetype" by dressing her as a schoolgirl, but he seemed to turn the stereotype on it's head by not making her meek, shy or unassuming at all. The woman is a killer, literally. She only utilizes the "meek, shy, giggling school-girl" routine before she's about to make mincemeat of someone.
But those are merely my thoughts...
Anyone else? Thoughts? Comments?
