| Can someone here tell me why the birds in our neighborhood are chirping all night |
|
It starts at exactly midnight and they chirp all night long. I can tell that it's not just one type, it sounds like it's at least 5 distinct type. My husband says maybe they're midnightingales. LOL As sweet as it sounds, it's keeping me up half the night. Should I just get used to it or is there too much light in our neighborhood? We've been here eight years and have never had this before.

| 1. Mockingbirds have always done that. |
|
Seems lately I have heard other birds as well. I think it must be brought on by the raging hormones produced in springtime.
I think I'll start paying more attention to what other kinds of birds are singing, (besides mockingbirds).

| 2. Robins start pretty damn early! |
|
I think I've heard them at three or four in the morning on occasion.

| 3. I don't recall where I read it |
|
but I had read that robins in particular are singing earlier in the morning due to artificial light.

| 4. Probably one mockingbird. Their songs are beautiful |
|
and they sing loud and clear. There was one where I used to live in NC that sang most of the night in spring and summer. I loved to lie in the dark and listen to it sing, but they can be annoying to someone who is awakened and can't get back to sleep.

The other day the birds chirping in the middle of the night just stopped. I think they knew I was talking about them. LOL
