| Holy crap. I just looked at Pranty's guide to Florida |
|
A friend gave me a copy of the species bar charts.
For the period I will be in Florida next may, there are 96 species that I could see that would be either life or ABA-list birds for me.
I'm astounded. We're supposed to come up with a list of target birds for the trip. They're pretty much all target birds for me!
I was thinking that adding 20-30 birds to my list was doable, but now it seems that I could go much higher.
Time to start saving up!

| 1. The Lane guide's a bit of a dong. |

Just so you know.
(Trivia: the terms "ding" and "dong" (insofar as birding goes) were coined at Ding Darling NWR. :D )

| 2. Really? what's the issue with it, or is it just out of date? |
|
I actually only have a copy of the section with the bar graphs and accepted state list. Are the bar graphs no longer accurate?

| 3. Most of the discussions are about wintering birds in the text |
|
Very little is said about spring migrants.

| 4. Oh, that's alright then. |
|
Won't effect what I am using it for.
Still, I'm guessing that some discussion of where the best fallout locations might be (aside from the Dry Tortugas) would be helpful, if that's what is lacking.
