| Wonderful birding as I sat by the pool yesterday |
|
The pool I belong to just opened, and is right across the road from a large wooded park area. With binocs in hand, I was able to check out scarlet tanagers, indigo buntings, Cedar Waxwings, American goldfinches and Baltimore Orioles, all eating berries or gathering them for their young, in a large tree across the road. Not sure what kind of tree is was, but it was a bird smorgasboard!
Also, my binocular technique is improving, I was able to follow their movements much more easily than when I first got my binoculars!

| 1. Some colorful birds there! I am very jealous! |

Love goldfinches, have only seen Baltimore Orioles twice in my life (despite living in Maryland for 35 years) and have ALWAYS wanted to see scarlet tanagers and indigo buntings...

that seemed to be the place where all the birds were feeding and/or nesting. I was kind of surprised to see so many birds in or near one tree on one day!
I've only seen orioles a few times, once in a park near the river, and then a few times over the last month or so, here and then several in Southern Ohio. In fact, one flew right into our maple tree outside the bedroom window a few mornings ago!
If you ever are in Pittsburgh, let me know- there are lots of indigo buntings at the same park where I was. :hi:
