so do folks record unfamiliar bird calls for later examination?

I could hear a lot of unfamiliar bird calls while we were away in Gettysburg this week, but couldn't see em!


I was wishing i had brought my little tape recorder...I will next time!

1. Some people do, yes

I also have bird calls on my iPod, and I'm good enough with the calls now to have some educated guesses about what a bird song might be so I can often just dial up a few "likelies" and figure out what a bird is that way.

2. I have a pretty good ear since I play music, but sometimes the complexities

and varied calls stymie me. So next, time, I'll take the recorder with me, or try to use the one on my phone...
