| Bird eggs disappearing.... |
|
We had a cardinal nest in our back yard with 5 eggs and they began disappearing. Parents stayed with it until there was only one left and then abandoned it. Any ideas what may have happened? We have a dog and no cats dare venture into the back yard. The nest was too high for the dog to manage.

| 1. Other birds or even snakes could be the culprits |
|
Keep an eye out especially for jays and crows, notorious egg thieves.

| 2. I'd thought about other birds.... |

but snakes - you betcha I'll be looking out for them! They kinda disappeared 1 at a time over several days so I'm thinking its other birds. Hubby accidently exposed their nest in my overgrown oleander when he trimmed it up. It was our second cardinal nest of the season. The first one had one baby that fledged, learned to fly on our patio and we got to watch all the interaction. It was wonderful. I was sure hoping to see some more :(
