Lake!
Nice week here - I saw my first kingfisher- belted- 2 females diving for fish/bugs? off the pier near the cottage.
Also - blue heron roosting and feeding in the shallows, lots herring and ringed gulls, juvenile and adults, turkey vultures, group of cedar waxwings catching bugs in playful arcs right here by our little bay, think I heard a chestnut sided warbler? the last few mornings, sure sounded like the call, and the ubiquitous barn swallows, mallards and Canada geese. Hope to visit some bird sanctuaries before we have to head home. :)
Also saw a cardinal (just one today) and hear black capped chickadees in the forest, as well as a pair of catbirds with jaunty mien, flitting from bench to bench.
Our hosts say that they see tundra swans during migration in the fall- hope to get back there some fall to see that! :woohoo:
also at home I swear I can hear yellow warblers, but I can never see them!
