| A new little bird perched on the door sill at work today |
|
It was small and sparrow-like but had red on its neck and breast. It kept landing on the window and doorsills like it wanted in. Someone said it might be a barn wren but I couldn't find any listing of such a bird.
Do you have any ideas what it could be? The red was it's most significant feature. I know it wasn't a cardinal or a woodpecker. It was much smaller.

| 2. I think that's probably him |

He didn't have quite as much red on him but I read that the red coloring varies. The other markings look right.
Thanks for the link! Good call!

| 3. House finches like to make nests on narrow ledges |
|
They have a beautiful song, too.
We had a robin nest on our electrical service. Two fnches kept flying over when the momma robin was away looking for food. The finches would fly to the perch, peek into the nest and then steal a twig off the side of the robin's nest. Cute little pair of thieves!

| 4. perhaps it's a Purple Finch |

The raspberry-red head is brighter than the house finch. The first time I saw one - I wondered if there might have been some crossbreeding going on because the red head was so vivid..
