Does anyone here dance for fitness? |
|
I just signed up for a belly dancing class. I've been wanting to take a dance class *forever* but my schedule would never allow it. Anyway, in this class, we have the option of wearing weight belts while dancing, which I'm sure would really make it a work out. Just curious if anyone else here dances.
I would also love to try hula and samba classes. :)

I do belly dancing, hula dancing, strip tease dancing, & others. I am not saying I am very good, but they are fun & a good workout.

I've always wanted to learn to dance and don't know why I haven't until now. Probably due to my weird body issues.
Do you take classes or just practice at home? And if you do practice at home, do you have any good DVD/video recommendations? Thanks! :hi:

I can't imagine doing it with a weight belt on though. Since you're just starting why not focus on dancing for technique, then once you have the basics down you can dance more intensely. Anything is a great work out if you're happy doing it for hours.

10. I just started my first class yesterday |
|
I really like it. It's me in there with 13- and 14-year-old girls (I'm 36). They are a lot of fun and it was great to work out with them yesterday.
We will do four weeks of class and then have the option of adding the belt later, which I think will be really intense. Just doing shimmies, figure eights and hip slides gave me a workout, and I've been doing Pilates and yoga for years. Feels great, though. :)
