Workout thread: The Weekend Edition
Today I hope to go for a run after work. And tomorrow I have yoga in the morning. Anyone else? :hi:

1. I did walk/run for 2 miles this morning
Edited on Sat Jul-23-05 04:22 PM by Droopy
I probably ran about 5/8 of a mile and walked the rest. Tomorrow I will lift weights and run/walk a mile.

I do the run/walk deal because I am currently 5'10" and 275 pounds and I couldn't run a mile to save my life. I'm slowly bulding up to it. The most I can run right now is 1/8 of a mile before I have to start walking again. I'd like to get to the point where I can run 2-3 miles a day as well as my weight lifting workout every other day. My goal with the weights is to be able to bench press my body weight.

I just started working out last Wednesday and I've already lost a shade over 2 pounds. My goal is to get down below 200.

2. Wow - that's a great start!
Sounds like you have a good system down. I had to start really slowly with running too, but you can build up to more gradually.

Great to see you down here in this group! :hi:

3. Thank you
Yeah you're right about the running. The most I could run at a time was 1/16 of a mile when I first started. Two days later I was able to increase that by 1/16 of a mile so progress is being made.

I also quit smoking and drinking. I just decided that I had enough of that lifestyle and that I wanted to live to be a really old man. So I tossed the bad habits and bought a membership to the YMCA. It's probably the best thing I've ever done if I can stick with it. I will be checking in with the weight loss group as well as the exercise group as well as the addiction group for inspiration and also to help keep my ass on the straight and narrow.
