I've decided to give up dairy again...
A couple of years ago, I did it with great success, but the past few years it has crept back into my diet and I'm not happy wit the results. So starting today, it gone. Of course, I'll still get my calcium, probably through OJ, like last time. I'm very excitied about this and the rest of my new fitness regime... I always feel so much better when I"m being healthy

1. No Cheese???
good luck hope it helps you. I could never give up cheese or the joy of squirting whip cream right into my mouth.

3. I stopped eating dairy a few months ago.
I feel *so* much better. Mostly I missed ice cream in the beginning but I've been placating myself with frozen soy desserts, which are pretty good. :)

4. As I said in another thread,
milk (dairy) is the WORST garbage crap you can put in your body, bar none.

It's not easy. Cheese, ice cream, etc...all those YUMMY foods! Even tougher if you read labels and keep away from the whey and casein products.

Stay excited! This is a huge move for the positive!

6. I think it's the lactose that's the problem not the casien
For instance, casien protien powders are made for body builders and it seems to work pretty good for some. It is especially usefull for the final meal before bed to give the muscles a long lasting protien source.

5. You can always use soy substitutes for most dairy products
They make soy milk, "ice cream", cheese, yogurt and so on. Unless you are allergic to soy or your doctor recommends you avoid it due to hypothyroidism you can enjoy all of the faux milk products.

7. I don't care much for drinking the soy milk...
but I did cook and bake with it and everything came out yummy... I"ll do that again. Right now there is not a single dairy item in my house, lets hope I keep it that way

8. Fantastic Mrs. Sniffa!
I'm actually toying with the idea myself after reading "The Food Revolution", but we shall see.

I'm most concerned about protein supplements - most of mine are whey.

Hmmmmmm...

9. You can have my yogurt when you pry it out of my dead, cold hands
I eat 6 oz of nonfat yogurt daily. Stonyfield Farms, very tasty stuff. I don't drink milk anymore (at age 25 finally realized I'm mildly lactose intolerant) and am better off for it. I occasionally buy kefir too.

Gosh, I love cheese though. I eat it quite sparingly, pretty much just on pizza but have the occasional brie/french bread treat. Nothing compares to a well-aged cheddar, either :D

Aside from the occasional ice cream (hey, it's New England) that's pretty much it for me & dairy. Everything in moderation!

12. Are you including eggs in your diet?
I know I would miss my bowl of cereal. I don't care for soymilk, so that would be out for me.

13. I do have an occasional egg
I know, I know they are dairy, but I"m mainly concerned with cutting out the milk, I don't miss cereal at all, never really cared for it...
