Well, they started playing some country music at my gym, so... |
|
the time has come for me to start bringing my MP3 player. I try to not listen to music while I'm working out so that I concentrate on what I'm doing, but I'm afraid bad music coupled with really shitty lyrics ("Sometimes I like to talk about me") puts me so on edge that I'm afraid I'll definitely throw something out.
So I got my nomad jukebox zen here, which is kinda big, but it'll have to do until I can stock my MuVo.
Now to develop a playlist.

2. I've found that my MP3 player actually helps me focus. |
|
It's music I know, so I'm not trying to figure out if I like it, or what the lyrics are. It blocks out much of the yammering and carrying-on of the socialites at my gym. I also like my gym music a little aggressive, and I think it helps motivate me.
Country music? Wow. I don't know if that's better or worse than the pseudo-hip-hop/pop crap they play at mine. I don't know how anyone can work out to that. But then, many would say that about my garbage.

3. I'd go with the hip hop crap any day |
|
And I'm not a hip hop fan by any stretch of the imagination.
I used my nomad yesterday and it felt very weird - like I was in another world from everyone else, and an entirely different, and I didn't like it much. But I could tell that at least two country songs were on there while I was "out".
I'm sorry to everyone who likes country, but OMG, I HATE this cr@p that's being produced now. I like bluegrass and some classic country, but this Nashville stuff is EVIL. So bad that I can't get the idiotic lyrics out of my head for days. I'm still suffering for it. Gah!!!
And Puuuuuleeeeze, I'm working out in yuppie Santa Barbara, California, there's NO WAY that even 0.2% of the gym participants can stand the music. I could understand in Tennessee or something, but here, come on!
Our gym (Golds) was recently bought out by a local so they're changing things. Most for the worse.

4. Well, there's nothing wrong with liking country music |
|
but in the gym...I dunno.
I like bluegrass as well. I also love Hank Jr and some of the other "classic" stuff.
You'll get used to your own world...for the better.
Hey, are they line-dancing on the treadmills yet?
