Daily Exercise Thread - 1/25/04
Ha! Today is The Firm day for me. :D I do them about every other day. I think I need to do them more often.

Those who think they have not time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness. ~Edward Stanley

2. The Firm? What's that?
I'm curious, uh, what are you talking about :-)?

Yesterday at the gym I practiced barbell jerks up to 135 lbs, followed by curls, dips, and interval elliptical work...I've dropped 3 lbs since New Year's.

3. The Firm are a series of workout videos
now DVDs which are kind of a combo of weight training and aerobics. They've been around as VHS videos for quite a while. They are fun and you never get board b/c you can add more weight as you need it.

They also slow down the choreography to my level. I'm not coordinated enough for most aerobics videos. :silly:

5. Lack of coordination -
Is why I love Walk Away The Pounds so much. Easy moves, anyone can do them, and you can also add weight, speed, or do extra time as you want/need.

4. Today...
WATP - Four fast miles: One mile without weights, two miles with 3-lb weights, and one mile with 5-lb weights. My back end, thighs, and upper body are going to have that "good workout" sore tomorrow.

7. missed it last night, so today
pushups: 30
squats: 50
slow crunches: 15

These are all bodyweight exercises. I'm waking up my muscles before I hit the gym and start lifting again.

I'm working late tonight, so I may take off early tomorrow and go for a brisk walk in one of the parks.

13. Smart move.
Those bodyweight exercises are like stretching. Ease into it. Nice work.

9. damn, your delts must be toast!
mine are hurting just thinking about all that.

i'm off again today. trying to get rid of my sore throat for good. no more of this feeling better for a few days, working out and relapsing again. it pisses me off when that happens.

12. Not as toasted as I'd like. I like to feel it when I leave the gym.
Shoulda done some shrugs on the Hammer Strength machine just to involve the traps.

I like my delts burnt to a crisp, flipped, then burnt some more.

Keep thinking that way. Anything, anything at all is better than nothing.

11. Two times up and down six flights of stairs.
Fire drill! Whoopee! Helped another teacher carry her backpack up the stairs the second time.

16. Yes, she was going to take the elevator
but when a ten-story building has been completely emptied, there is quite a long line at the four elevators as everyone returns. So we took turns carrying the backpack. I would have carried it the whole way but she wouldn't let me! :D

I'm parking further away and taking the stairs more often every day!

17. Taking it light on cardio, ankle still hurts
45 mins strength training; 45 mins TKD class... by the end of the day, I swear I must have done 200+ pushups & 200+ crunches! The master decided we'd do "15's" in class. You do 15 jumping jacks, 15 pushups, 15 crunches - then run to the other side of the room. Then you do 14 of all three things & run back... keep going down 15, 14, 13, 12... until you hit 1. That on top of my 45 mins in the morning where I did something like 100 pushups & crunches (in addition to squats, lunges & side leg lifts)... LOL
