It is way too late for me to be up, but when I travel, it messes up my oh-so-sensitive body clock. Anywho... :)
I found my way over here because I am looking for a source of motivation, inspiration, and uhhh... that's primarily my reason. When I was in college, I had a great workout pal that would check in with me every day, and that really kept me motivated. So, I might just use this space as a way to keep myself in check, because I have the tendency to slip into slothitude.
Little bit about me... I could really benefit from some serious toning up, and I wouldn't be unhappy about dropping a few pounds as well. Turning 30 seems to have created an overall drooping effect on the 'ol bod.
I just joined the YMCA, and I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things. I'll never be as lithe as a ballet dancer, so I'll satisfy myself by having a nice, healthy muscle tone. :)
I'm thinking of browsing this group or maybe getting a book or two to plan a sensible workout routine. I've, err, kinda forgotten how to exercise.
So, yeah... looking forward to being fembuff!
:hi:

There's usually someone here every day posting a "I worked out today--did you?" thread. (I tend to be a Monday-Friday kind of gal when it comes to exercise, but someone almost always picks up the slack on the weekends.)
I found that it almost doesn't matter WHAT you do for exercise, as long as you're in motion, 30-60 minutes per day. Beyond that, I think what drives me is the desire to try a bunch of different stuff. I started w/ running, I now also do elliptical and indoor cycling (spinning). I also work for a short amount of time in the weight room every day. I'm hoping to add a swim one day a week (I want to do a sprint triathlon next summer). But I also think about finding a tennis partner, and maybe getting some in-line skates... the possibilities are endless.

3. I did take notice of those threads... |

Which should be a nice check and balance for me.
I'm thinking of doing a 40/20 split... 40 min of cardio and 20 min of weights. And I can prolly handle 4 to 5 days a week. Aiming for 5.
Triathalon... impressive stuff. I'm in awe. :)
Thanks for the welcome!

2. This forum is good motivation! |
|
Hi! It was great meeting you Saturday. I was worn out yesterday and slow getting started today (back at work).
I chime in on this forum when I swim and it's a good motivator when I don't quite feel like getting out of bed and hitting the YMCA for a pre-dawn swim. Then I think, "If I go, I can post in the 'I worked out today' thread!" Sometimes it is just the little extra I need to get in gear.
Good luck with your new exercise program. :hi:

I PM'ed ya.
Thanks for the welcome. My Y has a pool as well, so I am going to try to track down the schedule and include that in my routine. I love swimming leisurely, but I bet I can get myself to enjoy it as a workout as well.
:)
