It's the Danskin sprint triathlon, which I will attempt to complete on my 42nd birthday.
I need to get swimming.....

4. My triathlon is a "sprint" so, |
|
and my only goal is to finish.
I rode a bike for the first time in YEARS on Monday, and realize I need to get back to spinning class. (I haven't been with any regularity since I had my hernia surgery in December.) For all the leg work and running I do, all the StairMaster and rowing machine work I do, my legs felt terrible after riding the bike.
I try to run twice a week... 5K each time.
I'm not swimming yet, but know I need to start, and SOON.

7. My only goal is to finish too |

I found a 4 month plan on Beginnerstriatlete.com - and it's designed for back of packers - concentrating on endurance and not speed.
I looked at the times for last's year's triathlon for women my age and weight class. I took the times of the last two and sort of made that my goal - which is like 3 hours and thirty minutes.
Right now I can swim for a half an hour - which is the times the back of the packers were doing - but I can only cover half the distance. But I took a few swimming classes and learned how to swim more efficiently, so hopefully I can improve my speed.
I just started getting on the road with my bike after doing the stationary bike over the winter. Also softball season just started, and even with all the work in the gym on the bike, weight machines and elliptcal trainer - I coudn't move after our first softball practice.
My big challenge is going to be the running - I have to take it really easy cause my knees can't take a lot of pounding.

2. Swimming seems to be the toughest of the three events |
|
I helped my neighbor by just swimming with her (she was doing the same event as you)and i was sucking wind and thought I was going to drown after that swim.

5. Goals make the workout more motivating |
|
4 months is a good window for training, I know you'll make it. Is the course near you? Can you go ride the route so you know the hills?
Looked it up and I'm guessing your doing the one in Webster. The bike route has just one big hill. You should go out and ride it a few times.

I'm only about 12 miles from the course.
I'll definitely be riding the course more often over the next few months.
