Tuesday, 7/11: Afternoon workout today--how about you? |
|
I haven't decided what I'll do yet. I'd like to run, but it's awfully humid out there. Maybe I'll run indoors.

I did an extra quarter-mile because swimming in the adjacent lane was a nordic god.

I did run indoors today. I did 57 laps on the indoor track. Of those, I walked 6, meaning I jogged 5.1 miles (!!!!)

Have not done much of anything but go back/forth to hosp since June 11 when Ms usnret88 had accident on her motorscooter. She's back home now, not 100%, but alive and healing and I'm so glad.
Her PT is next door to the gym, so we plan on doing a lot of her work in the gym - slow but steady. Dr predicts we can get her back to at least 90%.
Here's a post I made on a motorcycle forum I frequent:
On the 13th of June, a neurologist at UofF Shands in Gainesville told me that if my wife had not been wearing a helmet, there would be no prognosis to discuss. She had been unconscious for nearly 2 days at that time.
On the 11th, my wife was riding her 49cc motorscooter on the way home from Sunday dinner at Grace Manor in Live Oak. Shortly after turning onto the final leg home, with less than 2 miles to go and under 25 mph, she left the road and tried to get back onto the paved surface, and she and the scooter parted company.
Subdural hematoma, 5 ribs on rt side cracked in 9 places, broken rt collar bone, displaced lt collar bone, cracked lt wrist, cracked rt cheekbone, too many abrasions to list.
She's undergoing physical therapy now to relearn how to walk, ability to balance is diminished, short term memory is damaged - but she's alive, and I have the helmet. I believe in helmets.

7. I didn't know any of this. I am so glad she was wearing a helmet. |
|
I wear one when I ride my bicycle and got helmets for my parents and partner to wear as well.
I am very sorry she had the accident but I am glad she is making progress. I wish you both good luck with the PT and I hope for rapid and remarkable improvement.

9. Yoga, biking and swimming |

Did some yoga in the AM, a 7 mile bike ride when I got home from work and swam for an hour with the family after dinner.
